It makes the conflict feel strange because all the "evil" is either only told to us, performed offscreen, or carried out by faceless or inconsequential people with barely any character to them. Pretty much all other Demacian characters aren't actually involved in any major way at all but still have the "good" vibe to them. We have Lux as the "peaceful reformer" character, and Garen as the "clueless knight" character. However, I believe that the main reason why this storyline is a mess is because, despite Demacia being this evil oppressive empire, all the Demacian champions are technically "good". ![]() ![]() Clearly, Demacia's comically evil oppression of the mages makes Demacia out to be the bad guy, with Sylas's rebellion positioning himself as a more heroic figure (he's literally going to be the protagonist of the next game). The dominant storyline in Demacia right now is the mage rebellion storyline with Sylas, Lux, Garen and so on.
